Fashion Fun
With the festive season fast approaching it's time to start thinking about your new winter wardrobe. With endless parties, dinners and post work cocktails it is best to be equipped with an endless supply of gorgeous outfits that you can throw on at a moment's notice and reply “what this old thing?” in response to the barrage of compliments that will undoubtedly be flooding in.
Whether it's a Valentine's party, or an Easter picnic, there are numerous trends on the high street that will keep you looking up to date and fabulous whatever the occasion. The age old dilemma of what to wear to that all-glamorous party or birthday dinner can become a burden if not embraced with the creative enthusiasm of a fashionista...
It is always important to shop around and only embrace the trends that suit your shape, because, whilst a skin tight leotard may look fantastic on Lady Gaga we are not all blessed with her flawless figure. Spend time going through magazines and selecting looks and trends that appeal to you and then enjoy yourself trying on after outfit after outfit finding the one (or ten) that's right for you!
Leather and faux leather is a huge trend this season with a stunning selection of pieces all over the high street. Whilst leather jackets have been a wardrobe staple for many years the trend is now dominating all items of clothing from dresses, skirts and shorts to trousers and waistcoats. If you don't feel brave enough to strut your stuff in a leather body-con dress try updating your outfit by adding a stylish leather bag or a great pair of heels.
With the temperature outside dropping by the minute it has never been more important to wrap up in textured layers and cosy knits. There are endless ways to wear this trend from something as simple as a colourful scarf to chunky cardigans and stylish sweaters. Mix textures by teaming a heavy cardigan with a pretty camisole or a thin sweater with a battered leather jacket. Just because it's dull outside it doesn't mean you have to be, embrace the jewel shades that are all over the high street and brighten somebody's day.
Footwear this season is all about statement heels and futuristic detail. Cut out platforms in metallic designs and sequins are a favourite all over the high street and over the knee boots are fast becoming a favourite with celebrities and fashionistas alike. Seen on every major A-Lister from Victoria Beckham to Gwyneth Paltrow, these boots can be found in a range of colours and fabrics from elegant and traditional suedes to futuristic leather styles.
Jeans are always in fashion, this season jeans are taking an 'anything goes' approach with the high street teeming with every possible shape, wash and rise. Skinny fit, straight leg, boot cut, flares and even boyfriend styles are filling the shelves. Just be sure that you spend time picking the perfect pair for your shape and if in doubt, team with super high heels! Try New Look who offers jeans in a variety of styles, perfect for any occasion and all sorts of shapes.
